I added fourteen more ads today, all from November 1983. There are four additions to the News/Special Reports Ads gallery including a Wednesday, 11/16/83 ad for a Rebecca Hanshaw Toledo Eleven News special report, “Limited Entry.” There's also a Tuesday, 11/8/82 ad for 13 Strong News election coverage, a Monday, 11/14/83 ad for a Tom Waniewski 13 Strong News report (“What to do when the money runs out”), and another 11/8/82 ad for the 24 News Tonight election coverage. There are also three additions to the Channel 13 News gallery, a Thursday, 11/10/83 ad for Stan Stachak's “Far-Out Forecasting” and two Thursday, 11/17/83 ads. The first ad is another one for Stan Stachak and the second ad is for Jeannine Lauber. I'll post more of these on Thursday. There's also one addition to the Channel 13 gallery, a Wednesday, 11/16/83 ad for M*A*S*H (Alan Alda). There's one addition to the Channel 24 gallery as well, a Friday, 11/4/83 ad for Little House on the Prairie, Matt Houston, “China Doll” and 24 News Tonight. There are three additions to the PBS gallery, all for channel 30, including a Tuesday, 11/1/83 ad for The Chemical People: A Toledo Perspective. Next is a Saturday, 11/5/83 ad for the Louis Gossett, Jr. movie, “Sadat.” There's also a Wednesday, 11/16/83 ad for Don't Eat the Pictures: Sesame Street at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. There's one addition to the Radio Station Ads gallery, a Wednesday, 11/2/83 ad for Screen Directors Playhouse on WGTE/WGLE-FM 91.

April 21, 2013: The Best Gets Better

 

I added twenty more ads today, from September and October 1983, plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade. First is a Wednesday, 9/7/83 story by Tom Gearhart, “Classic Movie Weekends Under Way On Channel 30” and includes other items about radio stations WSPD-AM, WLQR-FM, WPNM-FM, WFOB-AM/FM and WCWA-AM, and two WTVG shows. Next is a Saturday, 10/22/83 story by Seymour Rothman, “Don King Radio Sport Show Gets It Direct From Vegas.” The other one is a Thursday, 10/27/83 story, again by Tom Gearhart, “Channel 11's Jan Skunda Takes American Motors Post,” and also includes other items, about WTVG's Uncle Ben, radio stations WWWM-FM and WHEI-FM, and WBGU-TV. There are three additions to the the Channel 11 gallery for their evening shows, including a Monday, 9/26/83 ad for Three's Company and two CBS premieres, AfterMASH, “September of '53” and Emerald Point NAS, “Pilot” and Toledo Eleven News. Next is a Thursday, 9/29/83 ad for three CBS season premieres, Magnum, P.I., “Home From the Sea,” Simon & Simon, “Grand Illusion” and Knots Landing, “The People vs. Gary Ewing” and Toledo Eleven News. There's also a Friday, 9/30/83 ad for CBS shows, The Dukes of Hazzard, “A Baby for the Dukes,” Dallas, “The Road Back” and Falcon Crest, “Cimmerean Dawn,” and Toledo Eleven News. First is a Friday, 9/23/83 ad for two NBC premieres, Mr. Smith, “Welcome to Washington” and the two-hour pilot of For Love and Honor. There's also a Monday, 10/10/83 ad for Boone, “Banjo” and The NBC World Premiere Movie, “Adam” (Daniel J. Travanti). There's one addition to the Channel 13 News gallery, a Wednesday, 9/9/28/83 ad for 13 Strong News (Jerry Anderson, Frank Venner, Jeannine Lauber, Stan Stachak, John Gillespie). There are also two additions to the Jerry Lewis Telethon gallery, both Friday, 9/2/83 ads, a 13 Strong ad and a North Towne Square ad. There are four additions to the PBS gallery for shows on channel 30. The first one is a Saturday, 10/1/83 ad for An Evening With Chuck Mangione, The 1983 Drum Corps International Championships, and Ohio State Football with the Buckeyes vs. Minnesota. Next is a Monday, 10/3/83 ad for three 9PM shows, Great Performances, “Alice in Wonderland,” Vietnam: A Television History, and The Immigrant Saga. There's also a Monday, 10/24/83 ad for two shows concerning the upcoming election, Candidates Forum and The 1983 Toledo Mayoral Debate (Donna Owens, Peter Uvagi). The last one is a Thursday, 10/27/83 ad for The Chemical People (Nancy Reagan). There's one addition to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Sunday, 10/23/83 full-page Toledo Magazine ad (Everything's Looking Better). There are also six additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, including two for Hill's Department Stores, a Friday, 9/2/83 full-page ad (Grand Opening) and a Thursday, 9/29/83 ad (Why doesn't Hill's accept credit cards?). Next is another 9/29/83 ad for the Sony Betamax “E-Z Beta” VCR, followed by a Friday, 9/30/83 full-page ad for Lane's (“We think our child is getting into drugs...”). There's also a Saturday, 10/1/83 ad for an appearance by Professor Irwin Corey at Friar Tuck's in Maumee, and a Monday, 10/3/83 ad for Gastown premium lead-free gasoline. April 18, 2013: Limelight Tonight

I added eleven more ads today, from July and August 1983, plus four more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade. If you find the text on some of these hard to read, it's because the source material was of unusually poor quality. The first one is a Saturday, 7/23/83 story by Seymour Rothman, “Baseball Magnates Plotting Against Free TV Sports.” Next is a Thursday, 8/4/83 story by Ralph Kisiel, “WRQN-FM Begins Broadcast Of Contemporary Hit Disks,” followed by a Tuesday, 8/16/83 story by Tom Gearhart, “Channel 30 Slates New Fund Raiser” and also includes other items concerning WGTE-TV, WSPD-AM, WDHO-TV, WTOD-AM, WTOL-TV, and WTVG's Frank Venner and Jeanne Washko. The last one is a Wednesday, 8/17/83 story from The Blade's Washington Bureau, “FCC Studies New TV Channel For Toledo,” which would eventually be WLMB-TV. There's one addition to the Channel 11 gallery, a Thursday, 8/18/83 ad for another Liberty Mutual special, Kelsey's Son (Chuck Connors, Mark Patton, Patrick O'Neal). There's one addition to the News/Special Reports Ads gallery, a Monday, 8/15/83 ad for a 13 Strong News series of “Back to School” reports by Jera Jackson. There are four additions to the PBS gallery for programs on channel 30 including a Saturday, 8/13/83 ad for Gary Jenkins' Magic of Floral Painting, made possible locally by Perrysburg Paint & Palette. The other three are for Festival 83 programming, including a Saturday, 8/20/83 ad for All Star Swing Reunion and the movie, “Love Me Tender.” Next is a Monday, 8/22/83 ad for the movie, “10 North Frederick” (Gary Cooper). There's also a Tuesday, 8/23/83 ad for Nova, “The Miracle of Life” and the National Geographic Special, “Rain Forest.” There are two additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery, a Friday, 7/22/83 ad for CableSystem Night at the Rec Center (Catch The Mud Hens...) and a Sunday, 8/7/83 ad featuring “Our Gang.” There's also one addition to the CableSystem Ch 5 gallery, a Sunday, 7/31/83 ad for Limelight Tonight. Today's last two ads are additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, a Friday, 7/15/83 ad for Fox radar detectors at Marko Wholesale, and a Tuesday, 8/23/83 full-page ad for AT&T, after the breakup of the Bell System. I added twelve more ads today, all from June 1983, plus four more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade, all by Tom Gearhart.. There are two Thursday, 6/2/83 stories, “5 Members of Channel 24 News Department Laid Off” and “Channel 11 Hires Reporter, Program Manager.” Next is a Friday, 6/3/83 story, “Former Toledoan Named Outstanding Newswoman” (Marsha Bonhart) and also includes other items concerning Toledo radio stations and WGTE-TV. There's also a Thursday, 6/9/83 story, “Ch. 30, 57 Earn Oebies For Contributions To TV” and also includes other items, about late night programming on The CableSystem, HBO, WMHE-FM and channel 44 in Lima. And there's a Wednesday, 6/29/83 story, “'PM Magazine' Cancellation Slated” and also includes other items, about Joe Ashton, High School Quiz, channel 30 shows and Larry Jewett. There are no ads today for channels 11, 13 and 24, but there are three additions to the PBS gallery for channel 30 including two for Leo Buscaglia specials, a Wednesday, 6/1/83 ad and a Saturday, 6/4/83 ad. The other one is a Friday, 6/3/83 ad for the special, The Kingston Trio and Friends: Reunion. There are four additions to the Buckeye CableSystem gallery including two for the Cable Health Network's Diabetes: Update '83, a Wednesday, 6/1/83 ad (Are you living with a thief?) and a Thursday, 6/2/83 ad. There's also a Tuesday, 6/14/83 ad for The Cliff Erickson Show and a Sunday, 6/19/83 ad for The Blade Cablenews channels (Go to the races this season...). First is a Tuesday, 6/14/83 ad for “Disney on Parade” at North Towne Square, followed by a Saturday, 6/18/83 ad for Dominic's Restaurant.
