September 13, 2012: 1978 Turner Cup Championship

 

I added sixteen ads today, all from May, 1978 plus three more Random Pages gallery additions from Peach Sections of The Blade. There's a Tuesday, 5/23/78 story, “Ch. 11 To Carry Diggers-Flags,” a Saturday, 5/27/78 story, “WWJ-TV In Detroit To Become WDIV-TV” and a Tuesday, 5/30/78 story, “Ch. 11 To Carry Ordination” (of the Rev. James R. Hoffman), which also includes two other items about WGTE. There's one addition to the Channel 11 gallery, a Wednesday, 5/24/78 ad for the Turner Cup Championship deciding game with Toledo hosting Port Huron (Toledo won 4-3). There's one more in the Channel 11 News gallery, a Saturday, 5/27/78 ad congratulating the Turner Cup Champion Goaldiggers (Orris Tabner). There's one addition to the Channel 13 gallery. A Saturday, 5/27/78 ad for “Coogan's Bluff” on The Saturday Night Movie (Clint Eastwood) and “How Sweet It Is” on The Sunday Night Movie (James Garner, Debbie Reynolds). There are two more in Channel 13 News gallery, both for “Live, Color Radar” on 13 Nightly News, a Monday, 5/29/78 ad and a Tuesday, 5/30/78 ad. There's a similar 6/12/78 TV Guide ad here. There's one addition to the Channel 24 gallery, a Monday, 5/29/78 ad for The Newlywed Game (Bob Eubanks) and That's Hollywood. There's another one in the Channel 24 News gallery, a Saturday, 5/27/78 ad congratulating the Toledo Goaldiggers. There are two additions to the Radio Station Ads gallery, a Wednesday, 5/24/78 ad for WCWA with the owner of Jack Webb's Giant Appliance, and a Wednesday, 5/31/78 ad for a Sarah Vaughan concert on NPR (WGTE-FM). There are seven additions to the Other Vintage ads gallery, all Saturday, 5/27/78 ads congratualting the Turner Cup Champion Toledo Goaldiggers. There's one for Dana Corporation, one for Ed Schmidt Pontiac, another one First Federal Savings of Toledo, one for The Prestolite Company, one for Giha's, another one for Westgate Dodge, and the last one for Capt.
